Currently, I am loving anything (pants, skirts, dresses) that comes with a belt. Absolutely loving it. Especially dresses that come with a black patent leather belt. The way I see it, it's 2 items for the price of 1. Or 1 item with a free gift. But whichever way is good.

I just love the fact you can wear them together (duh, since they come as a package), or wear them separately... wheee, all the different possibilities! : ) Today I'm wearing my new (!) oh-so light and comfy black man-style pants from Sportsgirl that comes with a gorgeous green/turqoise/purple silk belt which I bought for only AUD29.95! Ahhh, I love love love sales.

And the weekend is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

: )

So I was at Sportsgirl during lunch (working near Lygon St definitely has its pros & cons!), and I was trying on a pair of pants and a skirt...and something odd struck me. The pants that I was trying was a size 8 (S; American size 2) and the skirt was a 6 (XS; American size 0). I know I have relatively big hips and it has taken me a while to come to terms with the fact that post-23 I can generally no longer fit into a 6 when it comes to bottoms, but isn't that just the weirdest? I am still wearing 6 skirts, but 8 pants. Is it my hips, or the cut of the pants?! No wonder us females are still grappling with body image issues!

And recently there's been a lot of hoo-ha in the media about how girls these days are growing up too quickly, and girls as young as 8 are being admitted to hospitals for eating disorders, etc... sad indictment of our times, isn't it? Growing up I didn't always have self-love for my body; there were always thoughts that I could be thinner and hence, happier. Why? Who the fuck knows?

Then I read somewhere that girls' bodies go through changes at three different stages: 16, 18 and 21. At 16 I was as thin as anything (and people thought I had an eating disorder when I would be eating junk food all the time!); at 18-19 I was beginning to develop curves (one of the happiest moments of my life when an ex thought I looked hot) and at 21 I was generally pretty happy with what I've been given. : ) And each time I find myself unable to fit into 6 pants, I just tell myself I'm no longer 21... I'm 24 now and gosh, it has taken me a while, hasn't it? Plus, the boy thinks my butt is sexy as hell.

So it's all good, but if only there are standardized sizings, so that we won't have to agonize over such trivial matters.

Don't know why, but I have this sudden urge to start wearing 1920s flapper dresses. There's a gorgeous one that I'm watching on eBay at the moment...but I'm not sure. We all know those flapper dresses best suit girls with boyish figures (really straight, with no curves whatsoever)... so hmmm... tough one, isn't it? I have about 6 hours to make my decision... *drums fingers*

**

But I really need more business shirts, or shirt-dresses. And I've given myself a "license to tart" on Fridays! : ) I think I dress relatively conservatively on the other weekdays, but since Friday is the start of the weekend, I decided I should "cashz" (casual) it up a bit more. Which means minis and uber-tight jeans! And I can really run around, lift boxes and do other physical tasks in heels, it's really no problem running around in minis and skintight pants. : )

Am wearing today:

baby blue Smurfette tee, layered with white tank underneath over

my pleated denim mini,

mid-thigh stockings (which have fallen down to my knees; should've worn garters, to be honest!)

black booties and layered with

long black cardi which is as long as my skirt.

: )

**

But especially with business shirts

a cardi (for the boy)

2 pairs of mid-thigh stockings (I'm such a huge fan of Carrie Bradshaw's long cardi/mid-thigh stockings with boots look!)

1 purple mock croc envelope clutch...tres divine!

some Diva jewellery (they were on sale, so I got 5 items for $15!)

I know, I know...I need to take pictures. : )

Yesterday I went to my first ever Carlton vs Collingwood AFL (Australian Rules Football) game. To understand the sheer magnitude of this statement, it's like going to your first Manchester United vs Liverpool game (for you soccer nuts out there) or um, a Red Sox vs Yankees game (I don't know enough about American football or NBA team rivalries)...so you get my drift. Carlton and Collingwood are traditional AFL powerhouse rivals, and boy, do they hate each other. And because the boy and his family are staunch Carlton supporters, I naturally became a supporter by association (I tell people I refuse to be socially persecuted when they ask why)...the team having an oh-so hot full-forward (striker/ guy who plays upfront and kick goals/ etc) doesn't hurt either. Well, he's not hot hot, but he has that impish quality about him that is sooooooo adorable. Oh, Fev... (A great article that sums Fev up here)

But anyway... OMG, 80, 310 people at the MCG where the game was played and it was just the best! Best because Carlton won by 30 points and because such games brought about the b.i.t.c.h. in me! : ) There was this Collingwood supporter sitting in front of us with his family and he was the loudest, most annoying person ever! He was shouting like he was coaching the damned team and pointing directions, as if the players could see where he was pointing at... *rolls eyes* And by the 3rd quarter (AFL is played in 4 quarters, about 30mins each), I was going "bla bla bla" after him and um, making other snarky comments. Sorry, but seriously dude, just shut the fuck up already. And it's a good thing I didn't take off my boots and smash it over his big bald head. I don't see the point of spoiling my lovely shoes, see?

But hey big bald fat (BBF) man, sucks to be you! About 10 minutes before the game ended, Carlton was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy ahead with the wonderful, amazing Brendan Fevola kicking 6-7 goals (he kicked 8 in all!), Mr. BBF had his hands on his head and was oh so quiet! : )

: ) : ) : ) : )

And Carlton vs Essendon next Sunday! at the 'G!

Yesterday I got a little annoyed with my sister's constant texting of "would this top [insert item of clothing] go with this?", "how do I wear this", etc etc etc. Sometimes I just want to shake her and scream into her ears, "It's okay to make fashion mistakes!!!!" It's amazing how people get boxed in by "fashion rules" and how people blindly follow trends, and seriously, who made the rules anyway?!

As cliched as it sounds, we do learn from our fashion faux pas(es) and what better time to make it when you're between the ages of 16-24? And hopefully by then you'd learn what's best for your body and not be a blind sheep...baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Last night I dragged the boy to watch SATC: The Movie with me, and let's just say it's best watched with your girlfriends... (now I have to endure 2.5hours of something the boy likes that I don't, but I'll just have to grin and bear it!)

Anyway, the movie was allright, met my expectations...although it went on for a bit too long. I mean, do we really need 1.5hours (thereabouts) of Carrie pining for Big? Hmmm...but the fashion was fabulous, and I thought Jennifer Hudson did really well with her sassy portrayal of Louis from St. Louis. And OMG, that Dior wedding dress that Carrie wore in that Vogue photo shoot! That has to be one of the most amazing bridal outfits evahhhhhhhhhhh! The Westwood gown was gorgeous, but nothing tops Galliano, I say.

But all in all, I'm glad the girls were back! : )

And it looks like florals will be a huge, huge, huge trend in the coming seasons...

Soooo I had a relatively massive start to the week... I mean, I don't think I've been out thrice in a row for a long, long time! But it was all good, and interesting.

Sunday- Dinner with the (Aussie) family
Us, his parents and his cousin's family all trooped down to La Paella, a Moroccan-Spanish restaurant on Sydney Rd. The menu sounded fabulous, and we've heard good things about the place. Naturally this piqued our interest, and the boy and I were looking forward to try a proper paella... but but but, in my honest opinion, this place has more style than substance! And we didn't really get much bang for our buck!

We ordered the banquet, and I was really disappointed at the portions! Really teeny pieces of stuff (chicken shashlik, 1 skewer each; 2 slivers of tortilla; 2 slivers of fried pecorino cheese and a stuffed mushroom slathered with oil), plus a "chicken & seafood paella" which came with too much calamari, and too few other seafood and chicken pieces.

But the Moroccan mint tea was good. Really good.

Monday- Our dinner
We've been to Cho Gao for drinks, but never really tried the food. It's a really good place, and it has the boy's favourite beers on tap! The food was great, and the service was equally good. We ordered 4 entrees (spicy crab & corn croquettes, deep-fried snapper fillets, chicken satay and crispy pork belly [not for me, duh]) and we shared Singaporean-style chilli crab as our main; and we had this really cool waiter serving us! Our entrees were awesome, I loved the croquettes and snapper fillets...but as the night went on, it became quite a struggle eating the crab! (Chilli crabs should be eaten only in the comfort of one's own home, where u could get really down & dirty with it!) They provided us with a nutcracker, but I think I did really well breaking the crab shell with my spoon! Hah! Go me, the true-blue Singaporean who's been eating chilli crabs all her life.

Tuesday- Dinner with D & S before D flies back to Thailand
We had pretty good Korean food at Oriental Spoon, and we spent a hilarious dinner pondering over kimchi, "korean spice", and among other things that were just too rude/ offensive to be named! We shared a tuna kimchi soup, and chicken bulgogi which came with wayyyyy too many onions and too few chicken pieces. But it was good, nonetheless, and the company was fab, as usual!

And today I might try eating healthily. Maybe.

Sex and the City tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus long weekend down in Port Arlington to celebrate the boy's dad's 60th birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
